Shiseido The Makeup: Fall 2009 Seasonal Look

I have always found Shiseido’s The Makeup a lot more avant-garde than Shiseido (Japan)’s many other brands. Being the international branch, I am guessing it is trying to be more like the west? Who knows. All I know is that their products really work and last long!

For Fall 2009, artistic director Dick Page created a very non traditional look for Shiseido The Makeup. Can you believe that yellow gold eyeshadow will be the centerpiece for fall? And pink lips? Although I personally wouldn’t wear them, I do like anything that goes against the norm. If you are tired of the same old, same old burgundy lips and smoky eye/purple shadows for fall, this is a refreshing alternative.

The new Luminizing Satin Eye Color (in YE306, Solaris, as seen on model) is a silky smooth, long wearing powder eye shadow that blends evenly and easily. If you aren’t ready to make a bold statement (wearing YE306) yet, there are 14 other shades to choose from.

Another new product is Perfect Mascara, in a proven smudge-proof formula (hmm…that sounds good because most mascaras that claimed to be something-proof aren’t really!). It creates amazing volume, length and curl — all benefits in one mascara. Intense lustrous color that never dulls. “Flexible”, non-clumping formula stays smudge-free all day. Contains Pro Vitamin B5 – a treatment ingredient, that makes formula gentle for lashes.

If you are hoping to get another look for fall or want to get a whole ‘wardrobe’ for your fall makeup, you can always check out Shiseido’s Asian lines such as Maquillage. Between The Makeup and Maquillage, I always find Maquillage much more wearable in terms of colors, and the bold makeup colors for The Makeup are more suitable for the runway. Don’t let that discourage you though – The Makeup has a lot of shades to choose from too. It’s just that when you look at the model you can’t visualize it!
