Product Reviews: su:m37 1102 Extreme Time Control Skin & Lotion
I have been using su:m37 1102 Extreme Time Control Skin and Lotion twice a day for a month now. These were part of a starter kit which also contains the eye cream (to be reviewed separately), Youth Activator Night Treatment and cream (both were previously reviewed here – and may I also point out, copied without permission on cosmeticplatform.com).
Both of the products were 25ml, which lasted exactly one month (when used twice daily).
su:m37 1102 Extreme Time Control Skin is a toner, very much like a real toner (most other Korean toners tend to be a rich, gelly texture but this is like water). There is a very light scent to it, but very subtle (su:m37 products are fragrance free). I suspect the alcohol in this product was rather strong, because at times, when my skin was a little chapped (I had a cold) around my nose, this stung a little! Also, when I used it with a cotton pad, within a few minutes, the cotton pad was completely dry. Anyway, I wanted to point that out because personally, if this was meant for antiaging and for more mature/drier skin, this toner may be a little harsh.
Other than that, the toner isn’t really all that special. It doesn’t really plump up the skin like many of the richer, more gel-like Korean toners do (think Sulwhasoo’s Balancing Water – that’s already a lot more hydrating than this one). You don’t really need it – even if you don’t use it, I doubt it makes any difference at all.
As for the 1102 Extreme Time Control Lotion, which is the moisturizer, it does a decent job of hydrating my skin. It feels very basic though – a light citrous scent, doesn’t take too long to sink in, but it just doesn’t do much. My fine lines are not plumped by both the Skin and the Lotion, and these together don’t keep my skin hydrated thoughout the day or night without another cream on top. I just feel that this is a rather average set of toner and emulsion, nothing special at all, and if they did anything at all I didn’t notice.
I understand that most wrinkle products take at least a few months to see results, but I am just not feeling these two. At least the Youth Activator Cream was emollient enough for my dry skin overnight, I just don’t feel that the toner and emulsion made the slightest bit of difference even in terms of hydration. Very short term, maybe – I am guessing the first hour but no longer. They didn’t feel as if they were some time-release formula. My skin didn’t look radiant they way su:m37′s White Award line made it look. Even su:m37′s Water Full line was way better in terms of hydration and plumping the fine lines.
All in all, I wasn’t impressed with this toner and moisturizer. Considering they are not cheap, there are much better products out there. Sulwhasoo’s most basic line (Balancing Water and Emulsion), for example, outperforms this a thousand times over!

April 4, 2011 at 12:27 pm (776 days ago)Hello Joseibi,
Wonderful review!
I am shocked the toner has alcohol?!?! I hope the other toners don’t have alcohol. I know that Sulwhasoo’s Balancing Water has alcohol and the scent is noticeable, but it does not sting or dry out the skin surprisingly haha
I have not tried the toner, lotion, eye cream or cream. But the essence from the 1102 Extreme Time Control line. I have to say though, you may love the essence. It is VERY moisturizing and hydrating, and keeps skin plumped and dewy, even after you was your face. I personally loved the essence!!!

April 5, 2011 at 12:31 pm (775 days ago)Thank you, Korean Skin Care.
The essence I had was the Youth Activator one, not sure if it’s the same one you tried.
It’s the strangest things too, my skin usually reacts to fragrances but none of the Korean or Japanese products with fragrances ever bothered me. I know alcohol isn’t the greatest thing in skincare but Sulwhasoo’s Balancing Water never bothered my skin either! I think it has to do with how they formulate the product.
I wasn’t too impressed with the 1102 line overall, I was much happier with Water Full and White Award, but my skin type may be different from yours. I have to say I would invest in White Award instead of 1102 if I have a chance. I prefer the History of Whoo anti-aging lines better than this 1102 by su:m37 so far…

Welcome back!!! I surely missed your presence!!! How was your trip?
I think that I have some problems with su:m37′s select products too – at times, the 1102 eye cream gave me milia – it may be too rich for my very thin skin (most people have thinner skin around the eyes anyway).
Oh I hear you – I fell victim to those ‘spa’ recommended brands – wasted so much money on Eminence Organics, for example!
I am embarrassed to say I haven’t been around the forum lately, just too busy…

April 26, 2011 at 12:02 pm (754 days ago)Dear Ari,
The Skin is the toner, which you use after cleansing. You would follow that with Essence (both the Secret Programming and Extreme Time Control Vital Essence), then Lotion (which is the moisturizer), then Cream, then Eye cream. This is the Extreme Time Control line from Su:m37, though I don’t know how the Jinyul Lotion got in there because it’s from The History of Whoo (both manufactured by LG though).
The Extreme Time Control line is anti-aging and hydrating, if you have oily skin you may find it a bit rich. You won’t want to use the Extreme Time Control Cream during the day – only at night is ok. Otherwise your face will be very greasy.
My experience with this particular line isn’t the greatest by the way. It was ok. The Eye Cream stings my eyes a little but my eyes are very sensitive.
Jinyul Lotion – you can save this for another time, because it is a moisturizer and if you are using the Extreme Time Control Lotion there is no need to use both, especially if you have oily skin. The Jinyul line is for 40+ age group with dry skin.
I hope it’s a starter set, so you can try the products out to see if your skin agrees with them. OH, I forgot the Overnight Pack, you use it as the very last step before you sleep – you apply it, leave it on overnight (no rinsing) and in the morning you wash your face as if you would normally.
