Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain in Donutella, US$9.00

My lips are very dry so these days I opt for lip tint. It’s easy to apply without a mirror and it doesn’t get caught with my hair in the wind (which leaves streaks on my face)!

I am aware that Tokidoki is a younger brand for the teens and the twentysomethings, but this one is cheap and I wanted to try it. As natural as the Burt’s Bees one is, somehow there is a taste to it and depending on the person it can be off putting. I wanted one that doesn’t leave a bad taste and provides a little more color. This one does a good job with the taste – peach with melon flavor – but for some reason, the color comes out very neon! Check out my lips:

The color is described as “sheer coral strawberry stain” on the Sephora website, but somehow it looks very neon, more like a hot neon pink. It’s not a bad look when you are younger, but now that I am 36 and a mom, I feel this is too young for me. It moisturizes moderately well otherwise, better than Burt’s Bees, though I have to reapply/touch up for both nonetheless.

The packaging is really cute though. I don’t think I will repurchase because of the neon hues, but if you are in your teens or 20s and looking for something cute, then this is nice.
