This is one of the best reviewed translucent pressed powder there is on the market. I have tried to purchase this in person at Sephora, but was told that they no longer carried the brand, but you can still purchase TheBalm from Sephora.com, ebeauty.ca or directly from TheBalm.com.
It’s a lot like Benefit Cosmetics’ vintage pinup designs, which I like. It’s nice and unique. The names are equally catchy – perhaps for the younger groups but now that I’m a mama I don’t mind using Sexy Mama!
It’s a tiny, tiny little compact. I have freakishly small hands and feet (shoe size is 4.5!) but this is smaller than my palm. Surprisingly there is more than 7g of product in here so it’s not a bad deal.
Onto the powder itself – well, is it really translucent? From my experience, it’s either too white, or too beigey. It does appear beige and it goes on somewhat beigey, though sheer. If you have very yellow skin this will show up a pink on you.
The powder is super super fine so with a good brush, it gives you a very airbrushed, flawless look.
I don’t have oily skin so I can’t say whether it stops the shine, but it sets my makeup all day without oxidizing. My skin doesn’t feel or look dry.
The only drawback is that you cannot put a brush or puff inside this little compact. So you have to carry it separately if you want to take this with you in your purse. But other than that, a very nice powder. It’s also talc free.
