I LOVE palettes. Every year I must at least treat myself to at least one! 😉 Before summer, I saw this waterproof eye and cheek palette from Tarte and I just had to have it. It wasn’t expensive for what you are getting; and also, unlike a lot of the Tarte palettes, this is made in the USA (many Tarte eyeshadow palettes and clay setting powder are made in China). I had this palette for a few months now, and had even used it at Great Wolf Lodge, the ultimate test for any waterproof makeup. So, how did this one hold up?

First off, this is the size of a CD. It’s not too thick (the thickness is about two CD cases), and it’s not that big but not too small either. You are getting the 6 shadows in relative good size portions, with the blush in copious amount in the center.

All the shades are highly wearable, by the way, and very pigmented. You don’t need a lot to get the color payoff.

The palette also comes with one double-sided makeup instruction card to get two looks, though some of the products mentioned on the card are not included in the palette (e.g. eyeliner and mascara).

When I first got this palette, I did a quick test to see if the shadows are really waterproof. I used the darkest shade on the back of my hand and ran it under water, rubbed, and you could see for yourself how well it held up:

After running it under water, and rubbed, the shadow stayed put:

AND, the ultimate test came when I went to the Great Wolf Lodge Waterpark for 4 days. It was very humid, hot and wet in the park, and I stayed there at least 3-4 hours each day. The blush, highlighter, bronzer and eyeshadows ALL stayed put, no fading or sliding off! It was truly waterproof. However, you also have to watch out what you put under these products. For example, if you use a moisturizer or eye cream underneath it does compromise the waterproof qualities. I used the products on my bareface, and/or over a waterproof, non greasy powder, primer or sunblock, and these shadows, blush, bronzer and highlighter stayed until I removed them with a cleansing oil at the end of the day.

Sadly, this is a limited edition palette! I really hope Tarte makes this at least every summer. It’s so good to have waterproof makeup that stays put so you can look good poolside or underwater!
