While I loved the Marcelle Pressed Powder in Translucent Medium, it was a little darker than my skin tone and being winter (Canadian winter, no less), I wanted something a little less drying, which means something talc free. I bought Origins All and Nothing loose powder after reading so many good reviews about it everywhere (4.2 out of 5 rating on I love Origins so I had high expectations for this.

This doesn’t contain any talc at all and it’s a self-adjusting, one shade fits all loose powder. I had wanted so badly to love this, but somehow, this does not adjust on my skin at all. The powder looks dark in the container, and it goes on a couple of shades too dark on my skin. It isn’t too dark, but dark enough to create a tanned face, white neck kind of unwelcomed, unnatural contrast that I was trying to avoid in the first place. I have become kind of jaded where ‘translucent’ powders are concerned – they either go on too white or too beigey – not truly translucent!

However, I do love the rest of this powder has to offer. It doesn’t feel dry or dry out my dry and dehydrated skin; it does look really natural without looking cakey. The container is well designed with a separate compartment that houses a small brush (with soft, synthetic bristles). If only it doesn’t go on darker than my natural skin tone!

Edited to add: on bare face, this looks slightly darker on my skin, but on top of my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Nude, this somehow made me look much darker. So I have to use this on my bare skin only, on top of a sunscreen. A shame, really, because this powder, if truly translucent, will be ideal. For now Koh Gen Do’s still ranks as the best one.
