Product Review: M.A.C. Pro Longwear Lipcolour

M.A.C. Pro Longwear Lipcolour, 8ml, CAD$25.00

Since we have entered the season for summer weddings, I thought I should share this with any brides-to-be. I have tried a lot of so-called transfer proof lipcolors out there, from Covergirl to Revlon, each promising food-proof, kiss-proof, 8 hour wear. But unfortunately for me, even on my wedding day, none of these actually worked – they felt dry on my lips, make them appear cracked, and after a few rounds of photo sessions and a few slightly oily au’dourves, flaked off leaving uneven stains on my lips.

Retouch free? I wish. I had all but given up until I tried M.A.C.’s Pro Longwear Lipcolour – twice the price of Revlon, Covergirl or any other drug store comparable products – which claims to be smudge, food, kiss proof.

And it IS. How refreshing for a product to actually deliver what it promises!! I had even worn this alone without the gloss and although it felt a bit dry and sticky (the inevitability of transfer proof lipcolors, I guess) after a while, it actually stays put. It lasted through kissing and food, and can only be removed with cleansing oil. I wish I had this on my wedding day!

I have this in For Keeps, a ‘dirty rose plum’ with a slight shimmer. The Pro Longwear Lipcolour also comes in a luster version by the way, for those who want a more shimmery finish.

This one is definitely for keeps!

**Update to add: I find that this product really dries out my lips and accentuates the lip lines. It also flakes off a little throughout the day! 🙁
