LORAC Perfectly Lit Oil-Free Luminizing Powder, 9g, US$32.00

I have very pale skin that looks sickly so luminizers are some of my favourite makeup items to use, and one of the few base makeup that I use on a daily basis. I have tried quite a few of them – Laneige’s Makeup Brighter was one that I used on my wedding day, but because it was almost a white shade, I could only use it as more of a highlighter, not an all over luminizer. This LORAC Perfectly Lit luminizing powder was on a special trial price when I bought it at Sephora last year at CAD$10.00, too cheap to pass up, and I am glad I didn’t!

I do swear by my liquid luminizers – Benefit’s High Beam (a pink tone) and Stila’s All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer #3 (a gold tone) – I use these along the bridge of my lose (lengthwise) everyday because I wasn’t blessed with a high bridged nose. It really does wonders to create a more 3D facial contour for me. But after I went through The History of Whoo’s Seol whitening, I found my skin so much more pale that I needed a little more warmth to my skin tone just so I don’t look so harsh. If you have pale skin, you would know how hard it is to find a good bronzer that doesn’t make you look like you had been fake baked. I needed a warm glow but not too pigmented so it would be more natural.

LORAC’s Perfectly Lit in Spotlight was my HG luminizer. I was so happy I bought it; it would have cost US$32.00 at its regular price but I will gladly pay it. I had this little 9g compact for over a year and I still have most of it! It’s such a great product and it lasts forever. The shimmer specks are not big so you won’t look glittery, and it gives you just a hint of colour so your face won’t look dark against the rest of your body.

Me wearing LORAC Perfectly Lit in Spotlight over my sunscreen, with no foundation under.

The Spotlight shade is a warm beige. It is also available in two other shades.

As for coverage, this has none, since this isn’t supposed to cover anything. But I do find that the light diffusing effect really helps blur my fine lines on my forehead. It photographs very well, with no ghastly white cast effect or overly shiny because the shimmer is very subtle and the specks are small.

This powder is also oil-free. I don’t have oily skin but this really does stay on all day without smearing. Even if it does it’s not noticeable because it isn’t very pigmented, just a sheer wash of luminous color. If you have oily skin, you can always set your makeup with a loose powder before using this.

The best way to do this isn’t with the thin sponge it comes with – I find that using a kabuki brush is the best way to buff this on, and it looks very natural that way.

LORAC doesn’t test on animals by the way. I have used some of their other makeup products and am very fond of them too! All in all, a great product, can’t live without it!!
