Product Review: Laneige Skin Veil Foundation SPF26 PA+

Laneige Skin Veil Foundation
Laneige Skin Veil Foundation

One of the reasons I use Laneige’s foundation is that it is yellow-based — the shade #21 fits me perfectly, and it does not cost me a fortune (the price is CAD$29.00). It is also widely available across Toronto, with at least 3 stores in my neighborhood. Even though I should be using Iope’s foundation (CAD$39.00) for my early thirties skin, I find that Laneige’s foundations are generally quite adequate and hydrating enough for me.

This foundation is basically the same as Moisture Lighting Foundation (the oil free version is the same as Clear Lighting Foundation). Again, like the makeup base, there is no noticeable difference between this new version and the old line. Just a name change and a slight change in packaging – that’s all.

The texture is quite light, and the coverage is medium and is buildable. However, the lasting power is lacking – unlike Maquillage’s foundations which don’t require touch-ups (unless you have super oily skin), this one will smear a bit, even on my dry, non-oily skin. I also find most Korean base makeup to be slightly on the heavy side (even if the texture is light, somehow it ends up feeling heavy), with a bit too much pink, which always gives you the white face yellow neck look. I also find that the #21 in this Skin Veil formula is a tiny bit lighter and more pink than before as well.

For base makeup, I still believe the Japanese brands are still the best!

    Hi Lily –

There is one in Pacific Mall (Kennedy/Steeles), one at First Markham Place (Hwy 7 & Woodbine), one in Korea town on Bloor, one in Mississauga. You can go to http://www.amorecanada.com – they sell online too but the products at the stores are much more current than the ones online. The website also has a store locator.
