Product Review: IOPE URBAN AGING™ CORRECTOR

Apart from Bio Essence, I don’t seem to have much luck with IOPE skincare. I bought this one on impulse (which is never good!) without reading any reviews, and the price tag seems hefty even though it does come in a 50ml pump (most essences and serums usually give you 30ml). Let’s see if it works!

This is a ‘urban aging defense serum’ targeting fine lines, wrinkles and dull skin tone. The ingredients look really good – with ingredients that are known to work well to improve skin. Unfortunately, like most IOPE products (with the exception of Bio Essence), it has fragrance, though it does not irritate my sensitive skin.

I have been using this for 2 months, but unfortunately I have not noticed even the tiniest bit of difference in my skin. I don’t have bad skin – no acne, no wrinkles – but I do have fine lines from expression on my forehead, and this doesn’t do anything to it at all. It has no noticeable brightening effects whatsoever. The texture is milky and somewhat thick, almost like a cream, and it is rather moisturizing though drier skin will not be able to use it on its own without another layer of moisturizer.

I do notice that even the sales reps at the Amore stores never really seem to promote IOPE with the exception of the air cushion and the Bio Essence, which are the only 2 products I like from the IOPE lineup. This is a miss for me, as it’s costly and doesn’t seem to do anything. I will continue to use it until I finish the whole bottle, but it is not a product I will repurchase.

I have never seen this product last year when I lived in Seoul. Is it a new product? There are a number of IOPE products which are strangely very cheap, like say, 20 to 30 USD or so, and sold online exclusively, which you cannot find in the retail stores, and I suspect that these are meant for a domestic market online which has now shifted to online sales internationally too. Imagine, I saw them on the international versions of Gmarket such as Singapore and Hong Kong, and they are way cheaper than the retail store products.

I actually like IOPE products, such as the Super Vital Extra Moisturizing Cream (except that it costs a lot and I only dare to splurge once in a blue moon on it), and their cleansers are great. By far, the Bio-Conditioning Essence is the best probably.
