I bought a trial set from feelunique.com in order to try out the much revered Astalift Jelly Aquarysta. The value of the collection is nearly twice as much as what I paid (price included worldwide delivery), and it was a good way to try out the set. The 15g Astalift Jelly Aquarysta alone retails at £26.00! Being the star product of the brand, I will review Jelly Aquarysta first.

From Astalift’s website:

This revolutionary skincare formula targets the visible signs of premature ageing: dark spots, lines and dull skin, delivering younger, more luminous and ‘replumped’ looking skin. The unique red jelly contains the smallest of micro particles that penetrate the skin immediately delivering active ingredients deep into skin cells. This patented innovation combines a marine alga rich in Astaxanthin – a powerful natural antioxidant – with various types of collagen to improve skin’s moisture levels, firmness and elasticity. Ceramides restore the skin’s natural barrier while emollients provide optimal hydration. Collagens and hydrolyzed lupin peptides help stimulate the production of elastin fibers to make the skin firmer and smoother. This breakthrough anti-ageing phenomenon is the number one premium skincare product in Japan. Results are remarkable.

My main concern at this point is the fine lines on my forehead. I do have freckles, but they don’t bother me as much as the fine lines, which, left untreated any longer, will become real wrinkles. I grew up in Hong Kong without the benefit of sunscreen, so the sun damage was the fine lines I got since the beginning of my 30s. No matter what I used, they never went away; and I really want them gone. Because of the collagen in Astalift Jelly Aquarysta, I had high hopes that it will plump the lines.

Ok, so it seems exorbitantly expensive to buy a tiny little jar the size of a lip butter – that’s nearly US$40 for 15g – but the good thing is that you really don’t need very much each time. The 15g is enough to use for a month, at once a day (use it at night). The texture is like jelly as the name suggests; but once you apply it on your skin it turns into liquid and it absorbs very quickly and easily. It gives your skin a nice, tight feeling (not a bad way). It leaves a somewhat matte finish. The entire line is slightly orange by the way, not from any colorant but from the ingredients. If you use a white pillow, beware, because I did wake up with orange stains on mine!

As for the effects, after 30 days, I did not notice any difference in fine lines, unfortunately, but my skin has become more even toned, the pores visibly tighter and not elongated, and the moisture level is also much improved. I don’t have slack or sagging skin but I do feel that my skin has become more ‘lifted’. It has not done much to dramatically fade away my freckles, but my overall skin tone is brighter and more clarified. So, apart from the fine lines, Jelly Aquarysta actually does most of what it claims to do.

Will I repurchase? It’s a hard one. My main concern is fine lines so I will likely try another essence or serum that targets them, but I must say Jelly Aquarysta is a pretty effective treatment product for many skin concerns related to aging.
