For those who don’t like to use cleansing oil directly on the eyes (which can be harsh especially with rubbing and tugging), a separate Lip & Eye makeup remover is a good way to gently remove your eye makeup – but only if the product does its job well (or you will end up rubbing and tugging). I have used some not-so-effective products that I ended up doing more damage wiping the gunk out of my eyes than simply using a good cleansing oil to dissolve the stubborn waterproof makeup.

The Face Shop has the Rice Water Bright line which is more expensive than the Herb Day series, but so far, it is worth the price. It is still affordable – considering the Laneige Eye & Lip makeup remover is CAD$18 – and it works pretty good. However, unlike the Rice Water Bright Cleansing Rich Oil, this Lip & Eye (Makeup) Remover does contain mineral oil. It doesn’t irritate my eyes, but if you are allergic to mineral oil, this may not be the product for you.

This is a bi-phase makeup remover, which means you need to shake it prior to use. It is lightly fragranced and smells exactly the same as the cleansing oil since it is the same line. It does a much better job removing waterproof eye makeup than the Body Shop makeup removers I was using. It removes my waterproof mascara (even the most stubborn one – Benefit’s Bad Gal) with relative ease. It’s a good price for a good quality product, though the Laneige one I had used before (mineral oil free) was better, though nearly twice as expensive.

So far, I am quite happy with The Face Shop products! Am I glad they finally made the move to my area.
