As promised, here is my review on one of the products I recently bought from the newly opened The Face Shop at Markville Mall in Markham.

From The Face Shop’s official description:

Now is the time when even peeling has to be smart
A smart peeling line that customers can choose depending on their skin type and needs
A translucent jelly texture that moisturizes and mildly exfoliates for daily use
*Natural AHA from apples softly removes dead skin cells without irritation
*Contains natural sugar, vitamin B5, B9, pectin, mineral ingredients that provide moisture and nutrition to the skin
*Vitamin C and tannin ingredients purify the skin from inside

After trying Coreana Nokdu Pure Peeling Gel, I hadn’t had any luck finding something similar to that. My skin is sensitive, even though it didn’t react to a lot of the scrubs with pumice-like granules, I didn’t want to over exfoliate. I use an AHA peel pad (First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads) every other day, and I don’t want to stress out my skin by using a physical scrub. I am fond of the concept of Korean soft peeling gels which basically use either enzymes/AHA and/or cellulose to gently buff away the dead skin and unclog pores. At just CAD$13, Jelly Apple Peeling is pretty appealing! (I think Coreana Nokdu Pure Peeling Gel is a few dollars more and that was quite a few years ago)

This is a soft gel texture, with no granules when you squeeze it out of the tube. I use a bit more than I should here, just to show you what the gel looks like. I remember Coreana Nokdu Pure Peeling Gel being slightly green. The scent of this is a delicious green apple. Love it. It’s very natural and not at all pungent.

How to use:
Apply adequate amount on the face and massage for 1~2 minutes. Wash off with warm water. Use it once or twice a week and be careful not to let it slip into eyes.

I personally wish they would specify what’s adequate…for newcomers, this is the type of gel that you massage, and the cellulose in it will eventually ball up a bit which acts as a soft buffing agent. The amount in the picture here is too much – I would say a Canadian loonie size is probably enough. You can add a bit more of course – there is no right or wrong in this.

The official description did say that it’s for all skin types though more for ‘normal’ skin type and this is true. For my dehydrated combination skin (leaning on the dry side at the moment) I find that it is not as moisturizing as Nokdu was. It doesn’t leave my skin taut or anything but it is definitely not as soft as Nokdu. It’s still good though – I love it as a massage gel, but if you have drier skin you may find this not moisturizing enough.

All in all, it’s a decent product that smells good and feels good, but if I were to compare this to Coreana Nokdu Pure Peeling Gel I would choose Nokdu. Still, my very first The Face Shop product and I quite like it! 🙂

Joseibi, your talk about Nokdu Peeling Gel reminds me that it has been discontinued , along with other products in the Nokdu line. Apparently, Coreana has replaced this line with Senite’s Nokdu line itself.

Sadly, yes. It was one of my favourite products to use and I have used so many! Often times when they revamp or upgrade a beloved product it ends up not being as good as before.
