The good thing about reviewing makeup is that the results are pretty much immediate (I do not use any makeup for a month before reviewing – I only do that with skin care). I got samples of EST Cream Makeup Active Aura Moist foundation in OC03 and 05 – OC05 being the standard, average Japanese skin tone. Prior to testing, I was aware of this product being a high coverage foundation. Curious about EST base makeup since it is a perennial advertiser in VoCE and Biteki, I decided to try anyway, even though I don’t wear foundation or powder and don’t need any coverage.

The texture of this foundation is actually quite light even though I had expected a thicker, more heavy duty texture like Shiseido The Makeup’s Cream foundation. The shade, OC05 is too dark on me, and OC03 is a perfect match. Even though the texture is light, the coverage is full. I have dry skin, and I thought I would be fine with the hydrating feel, but after an hour or two, I find this to be a little too heavy and the coverage is too full for my skin to breathe or show through. The effect was too mask like and not your typical sheer coverage Japanese foundations I am usually fond of.

This item is available at at around US$77.50. I am not sure if I would recommend this to any particular skin type or age, since full coverage foundations tend to age you and look unnatural, but I am sure somewhere someone might be looking for something like this so I thought I would review this anyway.
