I rarely buy Elizabeth Arden products. I don’t know what it is – the brand? Lack of marketing? There aren’t too many reviews anywhere (not even at makeupalley.com) on EA products either. The only time I actually bought an EA product was when Catherine Zeta Jones was its spokesmodel. It was a lip primer and it wasn’t earth shattering. But this time there was a great gift with purchase (with a deluxe sample of Prevage serum), and since I need something for my dark circles, I decided to try out the newly repackaged and line called Visible Difference.

This has a rollerball tip that dispenses just enough eye gel as you massage it under your eyes. The gel is very light and dries pretty matte, and does not create smearing with eye makeup afterwards. I had been using this eye gel morning and night for over a month, and this never made my concealer crease or smear. The rollerball tip feels very cool and actually works better on puffy eyes than dark circles; it provides comfort, though I did not see any visible difference with my dark circles.

One thing I did not like this for night time is that it is not hydrating enough. Anything that sort of dries to a matte finish can have this problem. My eye area is pretty dry, and usually after I wash my face, my eyes are very uncomfortable. This doesn’t soothe the dryness in anyway, and in some ways adds to it. It was because of this reason that I ended up buying the SkinFood Avocado Rich Eye Balm to top it off.

Despite the nice rollerball tip which gives a cooling sensation, this product is not effective in brightening the dark circles. It is not moisturizing in the least, but if you have puffy eyes, this may bring some comfort though not long lasting. It is disappointing as it’s not a cheap product, and I think even a cheap Olay eye gel at a quarter of its price did a better job than this one.
