Product Review: DHC After Bath Hair Treatment Oil

dhc afterbathhairtreatmentoil Product Review: DHC After Bath Hair Treatment Oil

DHC After Bath Hair Treatment Oil, 3.3 fl.oz., US$17.00

Obsessed with anything rose-scented (natural rose scent, not the artificial, pungent ones), I had to try DHC’s After Bath Hair Treatment Oil, since it has a light rose and geranium scent according to the product description.

I have tricky hair – if I put conditioner near my scalp my hair will feel greasy the next day (at the scalp); and yet, my ends could use a little nourishment. Over the years I have learned to stay clear of my scalp when I use conditioner, but even with the many shampoos and conditioners I have used, I can’t seem to achieve that normal, balanced scalp with healthy hair. Until I use DHC’s After Bath Hair Treatment Oil, that is.

This is truly a miracle product for me. I was a bit afraid of what oil would do to my hair; but since it is olive oil (which has a strong affinity with our own sebum) and it’s supposedly very light, I decided to try. Plus the rose scent was highly attractive to me. Am I glad I did! Despite it being an oil, once I rub it between my palms (one to two pumps worth) and apply on the ends of my hair, my hair instantly transforms into a soft, silky mass. The subtle yet natural rose and geranium scent is an added bonus!

The next day, my hair doesn’t even look or feel oily at all, but remain super soft, silky and shiny, all without a hint of grease. It is also great at preventing and taming frizz. I have finally found my holy grail hair product!

Available at dhccare.com (US) or dhccare.ca (Canada).

      Dear nami,

You can try Shiseido Tsubaki shampoo though it is animal tested; (Schwarzkopf’s products are also tested on animals). So I tend to recommend DHC because at least it isn’t. I love this After Bath Hair Treatment Oil – it smells like real roses and I am a big sucker for rose scents!

Another thing you can try, if you have it in your budget, is a good blow dryer like T3, it really makes a difference in frizzy hair. But the downside is that hair dryers like T3 only have 1-2 years shelf life after you start using them, they won’t last forever and they are costly, though they are worth it in my opinion. I don’t know where you live but if you end up buying T3 try to get it at Sephora because if you don’t like it you can always return it for a refund.

In Japan or in Hong Kong, I have seen Panasonic and other Japanese brand ionic blow dryers in the US$200 range, those are even better than T3 in my opinion (I have one from Panasonic bought 7 years ago!), they last longer than T3, quieter and lighter. Some of the cheap brands make the so-called ‘ionic’ blow dryers (e.g. Conair) but they aren’t really the same.

You can also try Moroccan Oil, which isn’t tested on animals and many many users with rough, dry and frizzy hair love it. :)
