I bought this because it’s a ‘tubing’ mascara – it coats your lashes like little tubes, removable by pressing in warm water – so it won’t run when I go in the water. I do a lot of water play and activities outdoor and I don’t want any smudging or running mascara to scare off the wildlife (and children), and this promises long wear – 24 hours – so I thought I would give this a try!

Wet Performance:

When I tested it in the pool, the mascara flaked off quite a bit. After swimming a couple of laps in somewhat cool (far cooler than 38 degrees) water, I was dismayed to see a moderate amount of flaking all over my eyes, with bits of the ‘tubes’ caught in my double eyelid crease!

Dry Performance:

I have allergies and the flaking occurs even when I don’t go in the water, and the flakes irritate my eyes so badly I had to remove the mascara. Most of the flaking, when I am not wet, comes from the bottom lashes, which I only do 1 coat.

This removes pretty much the same like the High Impact Curling Mascara I already have from Clinique (38 degree warm water plus gentle pressure) but I find that with my waterproof bi-phase makeup remover this comes off completely, whereas the High Impact one doesn’t come off with makeup solvent but warm water + pressure. I don’t think this is any better in terms of long wear because the High Impact one doesn’t flake on me, and the High Impact Curling Mascara is very nice for curling the lashes. This one has a tiny, small brush head:

It’s good for definition, but it will not fatten or curl your lashes. I always curl my lashes before applying mascara anyway, but if you are looking to this to curl your lashes, you will be disappointed. It has minor lengthening effect but mostly, it works well just defining your lashes, especially the bottom ones.

I applied the standard – 2 coats – like I always do. When I take the picture of my eye looking down, I didn’t think my lashes were that much different from before, but then, you can see the difference of wearing mascara when you look at this picture – one eye doesn’t have mascara, the other one does – even though this mascara doesn’t really give me the same WOW lashes I got from, say, Lancome’s Hypnose:

Verdict: Not waterproof, and flakes even when you aren’t in the water. A good lump of it comes off without warm water or pressure and it flakes too much for sensitive eyes. Epic fail!
