Is your BB cream too pink? Foundation too dark? Too light? Make Up For Ever came out with Chromatic Mix in a variety of colors and in water and oil bases for mixing with your foundations that don’t have the right undertone for your skin. It’s a brilliant idea. But does it work?

I got the oil base in yellow, because I just bought a Shiseido Maquillage True Liquid Moisture UV Foundation in OC10, and it’s just a tiny bit too pink for me. It’s barely noticeable, but it bothers me enough that I wanted to do something about it. Enter MUFE’s Chromatic Mix — I got it in oil base because the foundation is a moisturizing one and full of beauty essences so I thought the oil base will work better. You need very little: this stuff is super super pigmented and comes out of the bottle like pure yellow. You mix it with your foundation and voila! You get your perfect match.

It does take a little trial and error but as long as you start with a smidgen, and add as you need more, you’ll be fine. The oil base mix very well with my Shiseido Maquillage True Liquid Moisture UV Foundation and if you fear it makes your foundation oily, fear not, because it doesn’t. It doesn’t affect the wear of your foundation either, since you only use very little. It comes in 6 shades (white, yellow, red, blue, brown and black) and 2 bases (water and oil).

Personally, this is a lifesaver. I wish this was invented before I threw out so many jars and bottles of foundations that were too pink, too yellow, too dark or too grey.
