When it comes to long wearing, waterproof makeup, Make Up For Ever can’t be beat.
Sephora is the exclusive retailer for this product:
What it is:
An ultra-pigmented, long-lasting waterproof cream.
What it does:
Aqua Cream combines the highest-quality pigments with mother of pearl particles to give immediate rich color payoff with a luminous finish in just one application. It’s long-lasting formulation will not crease or smudge under the most extreme conditions and its creamy and elastic texture allows for easy blending.
What else you need to know:
Available in shades ranging from soft neutrals to pure bright tones, you can find the perfect color for any purpose.
Shades #5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 are formulated for the Lips & Cheeks.
Shades #1, 2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, and 22 are formulated for the eyes and cheeks.
I got this in #13 warm beige, primarily to use along the bridge of my nose (as a highlighter to create a more 3D facial contour) and as an eye shadow. I had such bad experiences with cheap, drug store level waterproof makeup that I had expected this to dry too quick and hard to blend; but this is not the case. Instead, the texture of this is like a soft, creamy souffle, and it doesn’t dry out right away either. It leaves you enough time to blend, and then dries to a natural finish.
The warm beige shade I have is a metallic one so it has shimmers, it will not look flat and matte on your skin. I wore it from 7am in the morning to 9pm at night and the color stays true, without budging or fading! I also tested it by going under water. It stays put – along with Aqua Eyes, the waterproof eye pencil from MUFE (I have 2 of them, one in green, one in brown). I spent hours swimming in a lukewarm swimming pool, followed by the hot tub, and the MUFE Aqua series stays put COMPLETELY without the slightest bit of smearing. Amazing!
The price isn’t the most affordable, but it really performs well. Too bad, the lip shades are sold out at Sephora and I haven’t found any other place that sells the red (#8) shade!
Oh, a tip, especially after reading some reviews saying this isn’t waterproof – don’t put any oil-based or greasy moisturizer/eye cream under your waterproof makeup. It will compromise the adhesion and hence the waterproof properties of the products. So, when I wear MUFE Aqua Eyes or Aqua Cream, I only use a water-based, non greasy moisturizer on my face, and skip the eye cream altogether. It’s totally ok to put the waterproof makeup over a waterproof, non greasy sunscreen though (I tested it over my old Shiseido waterproof sunblock and it stayed put just fine).
