We have all pined for Japanese brands that are only available in Asia – Ipsa, Ettusais, Lunasol, RMK, etc. But how about lines or products from American brands that are only sold in Asia?

Take Estee Lauder’s Nutritious, for example. It is basically a collaboration with Japanese manufacturers/labs, to create this very attractive line of products that is only available at Nordstorm (only a few products of the whole line are available) in the US, and selected duty-free shops at the airports in Canada, and nowhere else except in Asia. (I am not sure why that is, given that Estee Lauder is a major American brand and a line that uses pomegranates as main ingredients, especially in this day and age when everybody is talking about anti-oxidants.)

I have tried the UV Protector SPF 50/PA++ in the line just last month on my trip to Florida, and found that this is hands down the best sunblock I have ever used. It is lightweight, non greasy, but feels hydrating. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it is made in Japan, which explains why a sunscreen with such a high SPF does not feel greasy at all. Also, to those ladies who hate anything with silicone that rubs off if you layer it with something else, no such problem here. I used it alone over moisturizer and it stayed on from morning till night, even under the Sunshine State’s high humidity. What’s even more impressive, it’s so lightweight, it lets your skin breathe and yet your skin is protected completely! It is colorless, does not leave a white film on your face and it is a gel-like texture, perfect for all skin types.

There are about 8 products in this line, but unfortunately Nordstorm does not carry the complete line, and the duty-free shop at Pearson International Airport (Toronto) only carried this and the Vita-Mineral Radiance Essence, which I regretted not purchasing at the time. I believe certain online retailers in Asia also sell this if you really want to try.

I hope that the whole line will eventually become widely available in North America!
