ICONIQ and Maquillage – A Perfect Match?

For awhile, everything Maquillage is advertised with one of four spokesmodels. But now, there is just one! Who can possibly eclipse four of Japan’s most popular celebrities in fame and popularity?

The answer is ICONIQ, a 25 year old Japan-based Korean singer whose popularity and hype had reached epic proportions. Formerly called Ahyoomee or Ayumi Lee, ICONIQ shot to fame from her girl-group Sugar (Korean) and like BoA, another Korean singer before her, who became quite popular in Japan and much of Asia several years ago, ICONIQ got herself a vast array of endorsements, the latest and biggest one being Shiseido’s lucrative contract for Maquillage, a highly popular cosmetic line.

For ICONIQ to replace the other 4 Maquillage spokesmodels is quite a feat. I remember BoA briefly represented Kose’s lower-end Fasio line but it was short-lived. But with all the hype going on for ICONIQ, I believe her fame is here to stay. She does have the perfect face for cosmetics – the short hair could be a curse to endorse beauty but somehow it works for her and make her nice features stand out. It is hip and chic without looking boyish.

Her name is catchy albeit a bit egocentric, but she’s fresh faced and has a lot going for her. At last, it seems like Maquillage might just have found the perfect single spokesmodel (just like Maquillage’s predecessor, PN, which exclusively featured one of my favourite models of all time, Misaki Ito)!
