When I see The Globe and Mail starting to charge to view their news because of low revenue from advertising, I knew I wasn’t the only one hard hit by the looming recession. When big guys don’t make it, how can little guys make it, right? Gone are the hey days when I could afford to try out the latest and greatest of skincare and cosmetics. Since summer, I had been stingy. I squeezed out every last drop from my toner. I make creams last longer by using less. This beauty junkie definitely needs to tighten the belt!

Well, I am not complaining. By all accounts, I had a good run. I started this blog years ago, after Joseibi.com stopped being an online store. It had been a good source of revenue, a little extra cash on the side to enable me to try new products and what not. I had been cranky and snappy at times, been sent some not so nice emails, but all in all, I had a good run!

I just renewed the domain for another year, but this will likely be my last. I don’t see a rebound for revenue any time soon, and with everything going on – including counselling for my depression and low self esteem, cancer in the family, a very active 5 year old, a new puppy and my own career as a writer – I find it harder and harder to devote time to maintain this site. I almost feel bad when I realized that it had been weeks since I last posted; but the money isn’t there and I don’t have time to spare any more. My interest has also expanded to other areas too – lately I am more interested in jewelry – and I find myself saving for other passions instead of spending on cosmetics. I guess this is inevitable. But it still feels sad, as a lot of you have stuck with this site for a long time, which I really appreciate. Somehow, against all odds, despite all my crabbiness at times and frustration, I actually had people reading my blog!

So here’s a big thank you to all those who have read my blog, clicked on the advertising and taken the time to leave positive and encouraging comments. I know a lot of places on the internet can be really nasty (I scarcely read people’s comments on other sites anymore, let alone leave comments), but I am thankful that most of my readers are truly beautiful on the inside.
