I haven’t used a lot of Bare Escentuals (also known as Bare Minerals) products before. I used a couple of their loose powder eyeshadow before and wasn’t completely impressed by them, perhaps mostly because I am a pressed eyeshadow kind of gal.

I bought this at the beginning the year for a trip to Great Wolf Lodge, Niagara Falls. I wasn’t aware of Maybelline’s animal testing status back then; and bought this because it was a cheap drug store concealer which happened to be waterproof. I wasn’t willing to spend more than $10 on a product I only needed for a few days, so I gave this one a try.

I was never a big fan of M.A.C. but I didn’t mind their products. It offers a vast range of colors and shades which is a big plus if you are really into makeup, or if you are a makeup artist; and for everybody else, the mid-range prices are attractive too. Previously, I was disappointed with their base makeup (Studio Finish powder which oxidized and turned orange on me). Now that I don’t use foundation anymore, I wasn’t too picky when it comes to cheek makeup as long as the color is right.

Awhile ago, I was contacted by Naturopathica to sample their products. I asked for just a few pouches of Oat Facial Polish – facial scrubs being practically instantaneous and doesn’t require a month to test to review. To my surprise, I received a full size, US$52.00 Oat Facial Polish in the mail, along with a few small samples. It was more than generous of them since they could have given me just packets, or even the 2 oz. tube (US$20.00). Anyway, this is my very first sponsored review. Naturopathic did not ask me to only provide favorable feedback, so I will be as honest as I always have been.

I have been using this for almost a year now, though not everyday. I bought it as part of a value set which includes a full size version of this, a travel size, 30ml plus a 10ml trial size of the Foundation Primer, which I just reviewed separately.

I have read so many good things about Laura Mercier’s “Flawless Face”, even though I am not even in need of foundation, I ended up buying a set that comes with two Tinted Moisturizers and a bonus trial size Foundation Primer. I generally find that though many products call themselves ‘primers’, few really extend the wear of your base makeup; some felt no different from a regular moisturizer or worse, didn’t do anything for me at all (e.g. DHC’s Q10 base).

I love all in one palettes! I don’t know if it’s because you get everything in one compact, or because my love for compacts. Anyway, I received this two months ago as a birthday present.

After all the rave reviews I have read everywhere, I splurged and gave this a try. It wasn’t crazy expensive, but when you see how little there is in the product, then it is kind of expensive!

Super is a line created by Dr. Nicholas Perricone—founder of the highly effective skincare brand Perricone MD— a nourishing collection of skincare and body care infused with phytonutrients derived from some of the most powerful superfoods and formulated with advanced patented sciences. I have read about Dr. Perricone before, and having perpetually dry lips, I decided to give this a try.

I bought this long before I found out about Shiseido’s animal testing. The one thing I loved Shiseido is their brow pencil colors; oftentimes, the dark brown is too red, but this one (BR602 – Deep Brown) is completely neutral and complements my hair color.

As much as I enjoyed the Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Peeling Gel, I find that its texture just wasn’t good enough for exfoliation – it was too gentle, to a point that I didn’t think it exfoliated all that much. It smelled good, but I didn’t find it make much of a difference in my skin. I went to Sephora and narrowed my choices down to two – between Benefit’s Refined Finish and Laura Mercier’s Flawless Skin Face Polish.

Getting a little desperate over my worsening dark circles, I purchased this, a vapor eye mask with an eye sauna effect, from alphabeautyuk on ebay for less than CAD$10.00 including shipping (it is also available at adambeauty.com). I took the one with no fragrance, since my eyes are sensitive; this product is also available in chrysanthemum, rose and lavender.

Sometimes I do wonder what would be like if Joseibi.com were to sell products now instead of years ago. I am seeing a surge in beauty online stores in Canada in recent months – and companies that didn’t ship or sell to Canada before have now set up online stores in Canada!

I am often saddened by the lack of respect or even attention towards our veterans. So many people passed by without taking one look at the poppies; they walked on by without thinking what this world would have been like if our veterans didn’t sacrifice their lives to fight for OUR freedom.

Thank you, our veterans, for your sacrifice!

I have very pale skin that looks sickly so luminizers are some of my favourite makeup items to use, and one of the few base makeup that I use on a daily basis.
