Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a great holiday season!!!

This year has been amazing. The blog took awhile to pick up but at least now I got a few loyal readers who take the time to comment on my blog entries, give constructive feedback and encouragement. You great ladies really make my day and keep my blog going!!! A big thank you to all of you who read my blog!!

I will be away on vacation from Mid-December to at least after Christmas. My little princess, who is 3, will be off too so I probably won’t be able to post or answer comments much but I will try my best to at least deliver the History of Whoo whitening line review.

I will be turning on the registration requirement during my absence, just to keep the spammers at bay until I have time to check my blog.

The Phyto shampoo, as much as it was pH balanced, still contains SLS, which somehow still irritates my sensitive scalp, so I ended up having to search for a pH balanced shampoo, preferably without SLS. By chance, I came across this at a local grocery store (Loblaws) and the ingredients sound good, I decided to give it a try since it was only $7.99, almost $20 less than the Phyto shampoo!

3 years ago, I tried Klorane’s Dry Shampoo and really hated it. It was the spray version and somehow, instead of refreshing my hair, it felt greasier. Since then, I had tried Ojon’s Rub-out Dry Cleansing Powder, which is essentially the powder form of the Dry Cleanser. I didn’t hate it, but the powder was visible after a good rub-out and my hair didn’t really feel that much fresher either. By chance, I bought this on a whim since it was only US$10 at Sephora, the mini to-go version. I wasn’t ready to commit to full size yet, and these days, if you live in my part of the world, it’s so cold you don’t really feel like washing your hair everyday, a good dry shampoo comes in handy!

The texture is thick when it comes out of the tube, but it surprisingly blends and spreads very easily on my skin. It is light, not greasy at all and I thought it was a very nice texture, except that for dry skin like mine, this won’t be a one step kind of deal. You will need your own skincare (if you have dry skin) and sunscreen (this is only SPF15 – I would advise using a higher SPF under) underneath. But the beauty of this is, it gives your skin a very subtle but nice glow, and if you are like me, with clear skin, it evens out your complexion just a little bit, without streaks or smearing. This particular shade, since it is not very pigmented, just blends into your own skin tone, and doesn’t require powder to set. The staying power is good even without a primer under it. My only complaint is that it’s not a one step product – if it were more hydrating, and comes with a higher SPF, it would have been exactly what I was looking for!

Most of the Korean cleansers are so good that it’s hard to really review them, unless they are bad, break me out or don’t clean properly. This is not the case here – as part of a whitening regimen, this cleanser is very gentle, and while not as hydrating as some of the other cleansers I have used (that’s the only complaint I have against whitening lines in Korean skincare – there is no selection for skin types), it doesn’t dry my skin out either. The texture is a very soft semi-creamy consistency, not as rich as Shiseido The Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam or The History of Whoo’s Brightening Cleansing Foam, but it has a pearlescent finish to it. I have been using this for over a month now and it does its job, plus, I do notice that after each wash my skin does look slightly whiter (less sallow), although I don’t think it was some cheap trick like adding titanium dioxide or mica to leave on the skin. The brighter skin tone seems to stay on even after I use a toner.

The official product description is: “A super hydrating mascara that gives a natural lash with one application and builds easily for super sized lashes.” I don’t find this any more hydrating than any other mascara, and while it is buildable, after the second coat, you just can’t go much further without clumping and flaking. It’s a very basic mascara, not worth its regular price tag (US$18.00) and can barely even compete with a drugstore mascara such as Covergirl LashBlast or Maybelline’s various mascaras which are more than half the price of this.

As you can see on my picture, my lashes don’t have definition, volume or length. This mascara just doesn’t do anything other than tinting your lashes. There is also some flaking and smudging at the end of the day too. It’s not the worst, but it’s a very bland mascara.

The effect is subtle – it’s not too gold (it’s more like a champagne pale white gold) and it’s very nice. The sponge applicators are handy to blend the product but I still end up using my fingers to smooth the powder out. My only problem is that it’s not really something I can’t live without – especially when I normally use a similar shade in my Stila and Clarins eyeshadows in the same areas anyway. So this becomes redundant. However, if you don’t have an eyeshadow in a similar shade, this is a nice product to brighten and open up your eyes. It is especially handy if you wake up with fatigued looking eyes.

I bought this at US$8.00 at the time of the sale by the way, so I really can’t complain! Not sure if I would pay regular price for it though. You can easily replace it with a eyeshadow to do the same trick.

Turns out the fast shipping was the only good thing about this BB cream and it has nothing to do with the product! This 5-in-1 product is supposed to be a stand alone product after toner so you can skip your essence, emulsion, cream, sunblock and makeup base. Sounds too good to be true? Well, it is.
