I have sold Sekkisei perhaps more than any other beauty product when Joseibi.com was an online store, but surprisingly enough, I have never used a full size version of any Sekkisei product! There are simply too many products available and somehow I have never made my way through the Sekkisei line. After trying almost all the other whitening products out there and didn’t see any results, I finally bought the Sekkisei Lotion (the toner) and cream.

There are imitations but Shiseido’s Eraser Pencil is truly the best one. The non-oily formula makes it easy to reapply and correct makeup right away. One pencil practically lasts forever. This is a must for every vanity table, purse or makeup bag!

The texture of this neck cream is very light and absorbs very quickly. The scent is not too strong (even though I am not a big fan of the Benefiance line’s fragrance…find it to be a bit too old lady like) and I quite like the texture.

It’s products like this that makes me like Shiseido so much. This is a handy concealer pencil that goes on really smooth but without any potential of smearing. I have been using this for so many years I lost count how many I have used!

Tired of the typical western brand sunscreens that are impossibly thick, sticky and leave a white film on your skin? You can always count on the Japanese or Korean brands. Jill Stuart’s Day Care Essence, a fruity blend of strawberry juice, raspberry and grapefruit extracts, is a light essence that contains enough SPF for even those who are using whitening products.

It’s been a long time since the original Joseibi.com website was updated! So these days, I am busy updating all the products on the original Joseibi.com website, plus adding lots of new brands Joseibi didn’t include before. It is a mammoth task and will require much of my time and effort, so in the mean time, there may not be as much happening on the blog.
So far, the Laneige brand [...]

I have used almost every fall release of Paul & Joe’s base makeup (primer and foundation) since 4 years ago and have not found much difference from one year to the next; not that it’s a bad thing. Like most Japanese brands, Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter base makeup formulas are very different – the Spring/Summer (referred to as S/S) foundations and primers are much lighter in texture and aim at oil control, while the Autumn/Winter (referred to as A/W) formulas are richer and more moisturizing. There is not a whole lot of difference even in other brands when it comes to one A/W release from another – simply another marketing campaign in the highly competitive beauty market in Japan.

The really good thing about this mascara is that it does an amazing job of separating and lengthening the lashes, and holding up the curls. The wearability is up to Shiseido’s standards – it is smudge free, which is better than even Lancome’s Hypnose or Diorshow Black Out mascaras, which tend to make their way down half way through the day.

Being a huge fan of Shiseido lipsticks and after seeing Maquillage’s latest lipstick marketing campaign (featuring one of my favorite Japanese models, Yuri Ebihara), I bought the Moisture Rouge, Sheer Type in RD 303 from gooddealer.com. This shade is one of the 6 limited edition shades in collaboration with the current ‘it’ designer Alexander Wang, a nice neutral red.

This Moisture Rouge line promises to optically blur the vertical lines on the lips, which is why I wanted to try it. My lips are dry and I wanted something that will make them as smooth as the ones in those Japanese magazines.

Japanese beauty products have always set the trend for the world and they show no signs of waning. I love the innovative designs, versatility and quality of the products. Each season, they always come up with a few that you just can’t live without.

Take Shiseido’s Integrate Double Eye Liners for example. Both shades are fool proof (sweat and sebum proof too) to brighten and define your eyes. The Integrate website is one of the best by the way, when you click on each shade of each product, it shows you what it will look like. The Double Eye Liners are less than US$20.00 each, which is a steal since you are getting a great product and Shiseido quality!

Whenever I cannot find Japanese whitening products easily locally (not a big fan of Shiseido’s international release White Lucent), I always opt for Anna Sui. Anna Sui Beauty is manufactured by none other than one of Japan’s top beauty manufacturers, Albion. Having used some of Anna Sui’s skin care and cosmetics, I have great faith in its whitening products.
