When it comes to the sheer beauty in cosmetic packaging, Jill Stuart’s products are hard to beat. Anna Sui may be whimsical and cute, but Jill Stuart is serious business – seriously gorgeous that is! Can you believe it’s been 5 years since Jill Stuart Beauty first debuted in Japan? (And 5 years that we overseas girls have to oggle at the brand on websites in languages we can hardly understand)

I have been using Avon Anew’s Rejuvenate Day and Night cream for months now, and currently on my second jar of the night cream (read the review here). I bought the Flash Facial on special and because it claims to have a synergetic effect when used in conjunction with the night cream (Flash Facial Concentrate is for day time use), I wanted to see whether there is more visual difference in my skin that I feel I am not getting completely from the night cream.

Smoky does it for RMK’s latest fall collection. Autmn Mystique, is somewhat a traditional fall collection with smoky eyes (in three limited-edition gradations of smokiness) and a nice touch of gold (nails). By pairing smoky eyes with coral cheeks, glossy coral lips and gold nails, the look is trendy and classic at the same time, one that can be used long after the short fall season is over (dinner parties, clubbing, etc.).

Every once in awhile, a product comes along and you just have to have it. Clarin’s new Pro Palette Eyebrow Kit is one of them. It’s not that there wasn’t another product like it (Benefit has a similar product), but I like how Clarins’ eyebrow kit provides 3 eyebrow powders (other similar products usually contain 2) including a black powder for those who have darker hair and need to mix the browns with a little bit of black to get the desired results. The eyebrow powders can also be used as eyeliners, which is an added bonus.

The Fall 2009 collection by Suqqu is Marotsuya, a gorgeous, sophisticated collection that is not overly smoky (to be honest, having very fair Asian skin, the smoky eyes aren’t easy to do!) or dark, but just the right amount of browns and khaki-grays to go with fall’s colors.

Suqqu is manufactured by e’quipe (established in 1996, a newbie in the cosmetics world), the same Japanese manufacturer that also produces the hit brand rmk. Besides being available in Asia, Suqqu can also be purchased in the UK. Oh those lucky British girls! :-)

Guerlain’s newest seasonal collection, Beaute Slave, is already on sale in Japan!!! Since Japan is a huge and major cosmetics market, even western brands tend to debut their newest collections in Japan way before you see them in stores here. Guerlain, a luxury French cosmetics and skin care brand, continues to update its image with 27 year-old Russian model Natalia Vodianova, whose youthful, fresh-faced beauty adorned most of the Guerlain campaigns these days.

The autumn 2009 look for Kanebo’s hit brand Coffret D’Or is Soft Glamour, a warm, gold-toned collection that can be worn all year long. The soft beigey colors are enriched by a hint of gold, which updates the classic warm browns.

Much like Shiseido’s Maquillage, Kanebo’s luxury makeup brand Lunasol also has 5 looks for the upcoming fall season. Unlike Maquillage though, Lunasol’s fall collection is all about the stars.

Each of the 5 looks presented by Lunasol invariably creates a very sophisticated look without compromising the originality or the creativeness of the color combinations. From neutral pinks to dark indigo smoky eyes, each look is very sexy and highly wearable.

The tone is set indeed – in gold and blue. In his typically brilliant and rebellious style, make-up artist (and artistic director) Aaron de Mey has built Declaring Indigo, his fall collection, like a tribute to the free spirit of Parisians, brimming with energy and gusto, in which pure indigo replaces the classic black to become “the new black”. It should be worn highlighted here and there with glints of dazzling gold and touches of mat, bright red.

By now, the word Hypnôse incites a certain reverence among women who want va-va-voom lashes. Lancôme’s updated version of Hypnôse is Hypnôse Drama, which creates full body, high-volume lashes in a single stroke. The full contact brush, with its S-shaped curve, grasps and loads lashes for a fanned out, eye-popping, full body fringe. It works magic on tiny lashes. It even dramatizes corner lashes other brushes miss!

Have you ever seen a mascara wand like this? Givenchy’s new mascara, Phenomen’Eyes perfectly curls and separates lashes. It has a high-tech, patented round sphere at the tip of the precision wand that reaches every lash and adapts to all eye shapes.

I have always loved Laneige’s makeup because it constantly reinvents itself. This latest collection boasts yet another gorgeous looking array of seasonal colors. From the brown liner to plum mascara, it has everything you need to create a sophisticated fall look.

The new Anna Sui 2009 autumn collection is fairly typical in terms of the base makeup (in a lower SPF for fall/winter) and point makeup (purple shadows and pink lips).

New in the Fall 2009 lip makeup lineup for Shiseido Maquillage is a transfer-resistant contouring lip gloss and 12 new shades for Rouge, Maquillage’s star lipstick that smooths away lip lines.

As pictured above, Karina is wearing the latest lip gloss by Maquillage, the transfer-resistant gloss that will not dry out your lips. Available in 8 shades, 4 on the right are in collaboration with popular designer Alexander Wang. This gloss will create a more 3-D contour on your lips, which goes beyond being just a transfer-resistant lip gloss.

Catching up to the Asian whitening craze, now there are more and more skin brightening products from western brands that promise to fade away dark spots and discolorations.

Enter Origins, who has already made a few other skin brightening products (A Perfect World line). The new product is a skin tone correcting serum that contains Japanese Basil Leaf, Cucumber and naturally-derived Vitamin C, which will even out skin tone, zap the appearance of dark spots and help prevent new ones.

At first glance, I already LOVE this collection!!! I love the fresh take on smoky eyes (Bobbi Brown uses a dark green shimmer tone). I also love the idea of using pencils to create the look.

The Creamy Eye Pencil is an upgraded version by the way, and includes its own smudger on one end, and also a sharpener. The Lip Crayon, another new item in the collection, has a luxurious feel of a lipstick and also comes with a sharpener. To create the model’s glossy lips, you will need to use the Crystal Lip Gloss (US$17.00, not pictured) on top of the Lip Crayon.

For Fall 2009, artistic director Dick Page created a very non traditional look for Shiseido The Makeup. Can you believe that yellow gold eyeshadow will be the centerpiece for fall? And pink lips? Although I personally wouldn’t wear them, I do like anything that goes against the norm. If you are tired of the same old, same old burgundy lips and smokey eye/purple shadows for fall, this is a refreshing alternative.
