I was looking for something other than a cleansing oil, just to try something different. I bought this for CAD$36.95 (US$30.00) for 6.75oz., which is very reasonable for a salon brand. This removes makeup, dirt, sebum, etc. The entire Hydramucine line is for dehydrated skin by the way, which is why I bought it in the first place.

Ironically, this is a gift with purchase which works a lot better than what I actually purchased (Hydramucine Optimal Gel). The Sun Veil is a non chemical sunscreen made with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide that offers both UVA and UVB protection. The formula is enriched but non greasy, but it does leave a slight white film on my skin, which I am not a big fan of.

Because my skin doesn’t tolerate chemical sunscreen, this is pretty good. It has a medium texture – not light but not heavy either, but again, if it wasn’t for the white cast, I would have loved it. I like it as a gift with purchase, but I still prefer my Estee Lauder Nutritious UV Protector (made in Japan) SPF50.

I tried GM Collin, a professional brand, after a facial at my local spa. I had high hopes for this as this is recommended by my esthetician, not to mention the price tag (CAD$73.95 for 50ml). Although I have dehydrated dry skin, my esthetician recommended me to use this one during the day so it is not too greasy, and the concentrate at night.

I tried this line in normal/combination by Biotherm (designed for 30+ skin showing or trying to prevent first signs of aging) because of my dehydration lines on my forehead. At the time, I did not want any AHA or retinol because my skin is so sensitive, so I tried this olive leaf based line by Biotherm. The price is reasonable (though slightly higher than I wanted to pay for Biotherm) and as with most Biotherm products, the marketing is very attractive. I bought this when it was offered as a gift set during Christmas which also gives you a bonus night cream and eye cream from the same line.

First of all, the texture of the day cream (pictured above) is medium-thick. It spreads easily and is absorbed quickly, leaving my skin a dewy finish. I liked that. The fragrance is very pleasant although a bit strong. It does hydrate very well, I must say. Although, like I mentioned in my previous Biotherm review, after using up one jar, my dehydration lines remained.

When I was in my early twenties, my skin was not sensitive or dry, and I used Biotherm’s Biopur line and loved it. In hindsight, I find that Biotherm has a very successful marketing campaign – stressing thermal Spring water as its main ingredient – and with its refreshing pale blue packaging, fresh face models (with beautiful blue eyes), Biotherm is a really feel good brand.

That’s not to say that Biotherm is not good – I still have fondness for the brand – but other than hydration, I am not sure if their products really do anything.

I had fond memories from my trip to Japan and Hong Kong a few years ago, when I discovered the Fancl House concept stores. If you think I am crazy about DHC, wait till you see me at Fancl stores!

The new version, Skin Renewal Pack, has Royal Jelly in it, which has an incredible skin softening effect. I don’t think it will disappoint!

I have never used a product that I am completely neutral about – either I love it or hate it, but this is one of those. It is one of the best sellers of all the DHC products and while I can see why some people might love it, I personally don’t feel much for it.
